How to Access Halogen


Log In with Your UTORid & Password

Your UTORid and password are the same credentials you use to log into your UToronto email and Employee Self-Service. For UTORid help, please visit the UTORid Account Management page.


Supported Browsers

You may experience issues with Halogen if you are not using one of the following browsers:

  • Windows: MS Internet Explorer 9, 10, and 11 (certified)
  • Windows: Firefox 5.0+
  • Windows: Chrome
  • Mac OS X: Firefox 5.0+
  • Mac OS X:  Safari 5.0+
  • Mac OS X: Chrome

Try using the compatibility view of Internet Explorer to remedy this issue.


Access from Tablets & Other Mobile Devices

Mobile and Tablet users will be able to complete the performance assessment forms in Halogen. Depending on your mobile version and platform, limited functionality of additional features (such as document attachment or feedback attachment) may be possible.

For Employees


AP Objective Setting Employee Guide

Transcription:

  1. Select the ‘Employee Writes Goals’ task link to open the objective setting form.
  2. Type in the text boxes to fill the form out.
  3. Select the Calendar icon to choose a due date for each objective.
  4. Type ‘N/A’ in the text boxes you don’t intend to use.
  5. Fill out the Professional Development section of the form.
  6. Use the ‘Save’ and ‘Submit’ buttons to save and come back to work on the form later, or Submit if you are finished.
  7. The green checkmark shows the task is complete.
  8. Select ‘Status’ to find out if your objectives have been approved by your manager.
  9. Select the ‘Employee Writes Goals’ task link to view your submitted form.

How to Attach Feedback

Transcription:

  1. Select the ‘My Performance’ tab from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
  2. Select ‘Feedback’ from the main menu.
  3. Select ‘Add’ and then select ‘Employee Note.’
  4. Add a title for your note.
  5. Type your note.
  6. Check the box underneath the text box if you want your manager to see the note.
  7. Select ‘OK.’
  8. Your feedback is now added.

How to Upload Documents

Transcription:

  1. Select the ‘My Performance’ tab from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
  2. Select ‘Documents’ from the menu.
  3. Select ‘Add.’
  4. Add a title for your document and browse your computer for your file.
  5. Select ‘OK’ to upload the document.
  6. Your document is uploaded.

How to View Your History

Transcription:

  1. Select the ‘My Performance’ tab from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
  2. Select ‘Performance Reviews’ from the menu.
  3. Select an assessment to view it.
  4. Use the menu bar at the bottom of the assessment to ‘Save’ and ‘Print.’
  5. Use the menu bar to view your goals and objectives.
  6. Select each goal and objective to view the details.
  7. Select ‘Professional Development’ from the menu to view development plans.

For Managers


AP Objective Setting Manager Guide

Transcription:

  1. Select the ‘Reviewer Approves Goals’ task link to start the task.
  2. Select ‘Review & Edit’ to review each employee’s form in your list.
  3. Make changes directly in the white text boxes if needed.
  4. Change the due date if needed by selecting the Calendar icon.
  5. Add an objective by filling in one of the unused text boxes, if available.
  6. Select ‘Save’ if you want to come back to the form later.
  7. Select ‘Submit’ if you want to approve the objectives.
  8. Select ‘Status’ if you want to check the status of your employees’ forms.

How to View Your Direct Report’s Documents

Transcription:

  1. Select the ‘My Employees’ tab from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
  2. Select the employee you want to view from the list.
  3. Select ‘Documents’ from the menu.
  4. Select the document you want to view.
  5. Toggle between employees using the drop-down menu.
  6. Select ‘My Employees’ to go back to your list of employees.

How to View Your Direct Report’s History

Transcription:

  1. Select the ‘My Employees’ tab from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
  2. Select the employee you want to view from the list.
  3. Use the menu bar to select and view ‘Performance Assessments, Goals & Development Plans.’
  4. Select ‘Goals’ from the menu to view their goals and objectives.
  5. Select a goal or objective to view details and add notes.
  6. Use notes to record updates.
  7. Select ‘My Employees’ to go back to your list of employees.
